As Danny O’Day once quipped, “I was born at a very early age.”
The problem with writing about your life after you’ve lived it is remembering the life you lived. There are brief clips, like my toy lawn mower that I used to follow behind dad, pretending to mow. It was all metal and had a metallic rattling noise it made as you “mowed”. Like my Danny O’Day ventriloquist dummy, I have no idea what my age was. My first bicycle was a basic two-wheeler dad had refurbished. It was painted black I recall. I first learned to ride it going around in circles in our back yard in Tulsa, OK (possibly here: https://tinyurl.ee/vPTtf). That was possible only when dad was with us because he had a dog that liked to maul us. Just in fun, but it was a frightening experience for us three kids. Maybe two. I have no memory of Linda ever being back there. Perhaps she was too young. That’s where we lived from when I was born until I was around 6-years old. At that point we moved to Vienna, WV. I don’t remember either house, but I do remember a couple things from outside. One time, in Vienna, Bob and I got the brilliant idea of knocking a wasps nest down from the siding on our house with dirt clods. As you can imagine that didn’t go well.
